A Movement for Reconciliation: Connecting with Community

On Wednesday nights in September and October inour church (children, youth, and adults) will be considering our church's fall theme: A Movement for Reconciliation: Connecting with Community. We will explore what it means to be a good neighbor and what Christ had to say about being a good neighbor.

5:45-6:30 pm - Dinner in Bittinger Hall

6:20-7:00 pm - Children and Youth Program

7:00-7:30 pm - Optional Recreation for children and youth

6:30-7:30 pm - Adult Programs

Nursery provided for all Wednesday Night activities.

Wednesday Nights for Adults

Session 1:  September 5-October 17

Mr. Rogers: Won't You Be My Neighbor

Education Building: Room 302/303

For seven weeks this class will look at Won't You Be My Neighbor, a documentary about Fred Rogers. There is much to learn from Mr. Rogers about what it means to be a good neighbor and how we should treat each other. Join us to watch and discuss this moving and inspiring films.

 

Gentle Yoga

Education Building: Thompson Parlor

Teacher: Carol Proctor

A very gentle yoga class, consisting of yoga postures, breathe work and meditation. You will need a yoga mat and a towel.

Children

Children’s Choirs

5:15-6 pm in the Sanctuary basement

Children's Choir has 4 sessions: 

Sep 5-Oct 24, Nov 7-Dec 5, Jan 9-Feb 27, Mar 6-May 1

Children's Choir is led by Katherine Crumrine. Children will learn about music, faith and themselves by making music, singing, playing instruments and games. Learning will be child-based in an active, nurturing environment. 


Being A Good Neighbor

6:30-7:00 pm in Education Building Room 304

Taught by Emily Heeg, children will learn through reading scripture and children's books about what Jesus taught about being a good neighbor.  We will look at the Story of the Good Samaritan as well as children's books such as Who Counts, Be Kind and The Big Umbrella. Each week will also include a fun activity that helps children further understand about being a good neighbor.


Recreation

7:00-7:30 pm on Rice Sports Field

Children will enjoy a time of play, with some organized games and some free play.



Youth

After dinner, all youth go to the Youth Building (729 Post St.) for small group time from 6:15(ish) to 7pm.  We spend time each week on a different story in the Bible, or on a specific question. Then we spend time in discussion and connecting it to our lives. We close with prayer, often sharing our prayer requests with each other. At 7 pm we go outside for optional recreation time until 7:30 pm.
